(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov underlined on Wednesday that his country supports sending an international monitoring mission into Syria as soon as possible.
"This measure requires adopting a special decision by the UN Security Council or issuing any other document that entitles the Council to send such mission," Gatilov said in a speech to INERFAX news agency.
He added that Russia doesn't see any necessity to take new resolutions on Syria by the UN, saying "Russia sees it is possible to continue the efforts without taking any decision by the Council."
He stressed that the UN Envoy to Syria Kofi Annan intensifies efforts while the Syrian side started to withdraw its forces from the cities, saying "it is very important for all sides to carry out Annan's suggestions."
In a relevant context, ITARTASS news agency quoted a diplomatic source as saying that Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem will visit Moscow on April 10th.
